-
Mat for Wood Pieces
The Mat is made of foam, similar to a mousepad. It is blue and measures 8½" by 11". In the top left corner is a bright yellow smiley face. By following the teacher's demonstration, children place the Wood Pieces on the Mat to make capital letters. They learn to make all capital letters correctly—right side up, in the correct sequence of pieces, and facing the right way.
-
Slate Chalkboard
Forming capital letters and numbers on the Slate Chalkboard is the next step in writing readiness. The chalkboard is made of real slate, measuring 4" x 6", in a sturdy wood frame. The smiley face at the top left corner orients children and reinforces top-to-bottom, left-to-right directionality. The fun and tactile slate lessons prepare children for pencil and paper. -
MAT MAN SHAPES
Engaging and memorable characters inspire children to learn new things. In MAT MAN SHAPES (hardcover), the popular Mat Man™ character comes to life in an imaginative tale that takes children to a world of shapes and rhymes. A friendly hero opens students' minds to shapes, rhyming verse, imagination, exploration, and community in the first book of the Mat Man™ reading series.
